Each dosha has a naught or nice, coal or an orange side to them. We all can get to enjoy the benefits of our lighter side versus or Darth Vader side when we take time to understand how they may manifest. Being naughty or nice, coal or an orange is never a simple decision, and quite a complicated choice!
Once we start to glimpse certain attributes in other people (always much easier to meet Darth in someone else!) it makes it a little easier to see what we do not like in ourselves.

Vata behaviours can be so enticingly creative, you get used to their kooky outbursts and delightful wild expressions. On the other hand, their scatty mind is a big pain point, the one that goes to the shop and comes home with everything but what was on the shopping list…well we get used to that too. Their tipping the toe into something, and jumping back out just as fast makes them hard to please gift wise.
This time of year, with winter not helping vata stabilise because it has the same qualities of dry, cold and light, it encourages the vata personality to be more indecisive. Especially with things less structured. Such as a board game vs a card game that has strong rules that cannot be bypassed because it is so simple. You have been warned!
Pitta types enjoy this communing especially if they can lead the choir or start the charades at a time designated by them. Be prepared for an organised Zoom quiz with your far off family from the Pitta minds, and it will be no easy peasy quiz either!
Pittas will have made meal requests far in advance of the date, and will prearrange the Video/Television viewing schedule… and then at the scheduled time of viewing will audaciously ask that everyone agree to disagree and get on with the detailed listing of viewing order.
Of all the types, Pittas are the ones you dont want to play chess with – Queens Gambit my eyesore, they will kick you in the shins before they let anyone win ‘just to be nice.’
Gift giving, wow they are the best givers but they receive a bit like Rachel from Friends. “Yes its nice, but nothing like what I wanted”…they have no fear of exchanging even the most sentimental of gifts. It is after all their gift to do with how they want!
A great gift for all the doshas is a voucher from Kelly for an Ayurveda massage treatment or consultation, contact Kelly @ 353 86 1778369 for a fast fix for a superb gift all the doshas will love!
Kaphas…apart from the weather (at least for most of this work!) Christmas festivities get them so inspired they light up inside and out!
This loving excited energy draws family and friends to them in all the varying ways we now know we can. However if they are very unbalanced, this time of year can bring great melancholy and a heavy air to their presence. It is just these type of behaviours we deem negative that bring us to those old judgements of naughty or nice, coal or an orange!
Kaphas create the most beautiful warm Christmas vibe, you will know you cant leave straight away, nor will you want to, when you make it to this home.
Kaphas are the ones who try to give the most thought out present. A gift that means something to the heart of the receiver. It could be small and inconsequential to most, except to the one who knows the thinking behind it.
Kaphas play games to be together, winning losing, smeh! Its all the one to a Kapha personality. its the fun of it that drives them to play the game! (Thats not me!)
At the very end of it all…there is the the clean up. Who will be the last one standing to put out the rubbish? Who will wash, who will dry and who will do the put aways?
Ha!…well for sure most of this will not be done by Kapha! Especially if there is a Pitta and Vata in the house. Pitta will do the dishes to get the job done and dusted. Vata will tidy up just have space and free flowing air in there space and it wont matter to them if you are still eating!
Kaphas on the other hand will be walking around with a kitchen towel, pretending to wipe off the table or a wind chime…but basically out of reach from the ending of the party. Have you decided who is naughty or nice, coal or an orange?
Ayurvedic dosha discovery can be useful and fun. Not only seeing the fun these parts of the doshas arriving in others, but also our selves too. Because we have all three doshas within us, remember it can make our behaviour vary too. We can come back into balance with our doshas, but spending retreat time alone.
