Teaching a Yoga Ayurveda Living teacher training is a big venture, it is why I have delayed for so long. I have enjoyed so much, the work of the nitty gritty teaching of local classes to children, teens and adults.
As time does change things, so this teacher training arrived in my open hands one day in May 2021.
I see this as the beginning of many new trainings of all things I have studied and developed over the last 25 years.
The Yoga Ayurveda Living Teacher Training, 200 hour, is a foundations, or a spring board for further training. Foundations are a great start in learning the deeper aspects of Yoga that there is not time for in a weekly Yoga class. This Yoga Ayurveda Living teacher training is certainly about coming to learn about our own internal growth and Yoga practice first, and how to stand up and into our own teaching shoes second.
This is a training aimed at giving you, the trainee, tools to bring forward safe, authentic soulful wellness Yoga classes. Since I was blessed to develop slowly as a teacher in my own Contemporary Yoga teacher training in 2002, so I feel it is the basic first step to authentic teaching, authentic living…Space and time.
What if you are a qualified Yoga teacher already?
Perfect, it gives you a chance to develop your foundation postures and…AND you get to open to the wealth of Ayurveda in each posture, each breath practice, each meditation.
If you are totally new to a Yoga teacher training, we start slowly developing your inner library of foundational Yoga postures, practices and philosophy. These few months will create the basis, the foundations of all your experience as a teacher. We will use Ayurveda to enhance your own connection to your body and your whole being with down to earth practices of Yoga, meditation, relaxation, mindful movement, heartfulness, understanding the breath and its technical but also ethereal aspects.
Back in the day, developing the mind and body together, was vital to correct decision making and also living alongside the natural world. The practitioners of Yoga found that if they could sustain health, it developed wisdom simultaneously.
I like to think of the modern analogy, if the body is flexible so is the mind, if the mind is stuck so is the body…you know that sort of way- of course Ayurveda and Yoga never looked at it so simply, they relied on their self study and observations of others to develop this integrated science and share this natural medicine to their nation.
This Yoga Ayurveda Living teacher training will help either the adept and the two year practitioner. You will have the time to connect into the specific practices of Yoga that will help balance your own body and mind.
This is what Ayurveda can do for Yoga. Ayurveda is the medicine for our whole being, and Yoga is the development of our inner voice, better decision making and a leaning towards deepening your connection to your life’s natural rhythm.
If we as teachers learn ways to balance our whole being, we can also help others find and use these simple resources in small ways.
As a part of a Yoga practice there is always a gentle inquiry brought into our work, as a stablising support for our integral processes.
When we can come into our Yoga Ayurveda practice with a sense of wonder, we are, I believe, developing compassion for our life, for our body, for our thoughts, our past, our present and future. We are giving to ourselves the joy of freedom from the desire to control as much as we can. Conversely we begin to open to the wonder of living with life’s fluid nature.
If you are interested in this training, take your time. It is in rushing that things get left behind. Let this seed that is growing in your mind expand, and ask yourself, what do you really want from this or any teacher training? Breathe. We all arrive at the right time.
